Two Teenagers Seriously Injured After Motorcycle Crash in Karangasem
Two motorcycles were involved in a serious crash on the Amlapura–Denpasar road, specifically in Subagan Ward, Karangasem, around 22:00 WITA on Tuesday, 19 May 2026. The incident left two teenagers seriously injured. The Karangasem Police Traffic Unit’s AKP I Gusti Agung Putu Maha Putra said the motorcycle with plate DK 5635 SX, ridden by I Wayan Suartawan (15), was accompanied by I Komang Agus Sentana (14). They were travelling from the south (Jasri) towards the north (Subagan) and intended to turn right by cutting across the lane. At the same time, from the opposite direction came a motorcycle with plate B 6864 ZIG ridden by I Komang Wismantara (19) with I Made Bisma (14). “Because the distance was already too close, the collision could not be avoided,” Maha Putra said on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. Three people sustained serious injuries and were taken to RSUD Karangasem for medical treatment. One person, I Komang Wismantara, was not injured. After initial treatment, two people required more intensive care: I Wayan Suartawan and I Komang Agus Sentana. Some were referred to RSUD Klungkung, and one had to undergo surgery at RSUD Karangasem. RSUD Karangasem Service Chief I Gusti Lanang Putu Udiyana said that patient I Wayan Suartawan was referred to RSUD Klungkung due to a head injury requiring treatment by a neurosurgical specialist. “For the patient I Komang Agus Sentana, a fracture of the left femur was diagnosed, and surgery was performed today,” Udiyana said.
