Two Suspects in Stabbing of Golkar Southeast Maluku Chairman Nus Kei Arrested
Police have arrested two suspects in the stabbing of the Chairman of Golkar for Southeast Maluku Regency, Maluku, Agrapinus Rumatora alias Nus Kei.
The perpetrators were apprehended two hours after the stabbing incident. The suspects are identified by the initials HR (28) and FU (36). The arrest was led directly by the Regent Police Chief, AKBP Rian Suhendi.
“Two hours after the incident, we succeeded in securing two suspected perpetrators, both with the initials HR and FU,” said the Head of Public Relations of the Maluku Regional Police, Commissioner Pol Rosita Umasugi, on Sunday.
Currently, HR and FU have been taken to the Southeast Maluku Police Resort for intensive examination.
“For the motive, it is still being investigated further by the investigators,” said Rosita.
Nus Kei was stabbed in the airport exit area of Karel Sadsuitubun Airport, Kei Kecil Subdistrict, Southeast Maluku Regency, around 11:25 WIT. He was rushed to hospital but could not be saved due to the wounds he sustained.
At that time, the victim had just landed with Lion Air from Ambon after a three-hour journey from Jakarta.
Meanwhile, the Maluku Police Chief, Inspector General Pol Dadang Hartanto, urged the public in Southeast Maluku, especially the family and supporters of Nus Kei, to exercise restraint and leave everything to the police.
He hoped there would be no retaliatory actions from supporters or Nus Kei’s family that could worsen the security situation in the area.
“We urge the entire community, especially the victim’s extended family and sympathisers, to exercise restraint and entrust the handling of this case to the National Police. Do not engage in any retaliatory actions that could muddy the situation,” he added.
Currently, said Rosita, the situation in Southeast Maluku is safe and conducive.
Nus Kei had just returned from Jakarta to meet Golkar General Chairman Bahlil Lahadalia regarding the organisation of the Regional Deliberation (Musda) of the Golkar Party for Southeast Maluku.
His return to Southeast Maluku was to re-register himself as a prospective chairman of the Golkar Party for Southeast Maluku.
Golkar in mourning
The Central Executive Board (DPP) of the Golkar Party has expressed condolences over the stabbing incident that killed the Chairman of the Golkar Party Branch Leadership Council (DPC) for Southeast Maluku, Maluku, Agrapinus Rumatora alias Nus Kei.
The Secretary General (Sekjen) of the Golkar Party, Muhammad Sarmuji, said he had heard the news from the victim’s wife. He also mentioned that the perpetrators had been arrested.
“I have [heard] and according to information, the perpetrators have been arrested,” said Sarmuji when contacted.
“We are deeply saddened, grieving, and angry about this incident. We extend our condolences to the family and the extended family of the Maluku Provincial Board, especially Southeast Maluku,” added Sarmuji.
However, Sarmuji does not yet know the identity of the perpetrators and the motive behind the stabbing incident.
“The motive is being delved into by the police apparatus. Who they are and the motive, I am not yet clear,” said Sarmuji.
The member of Commission VI of the DPR hopes that the police will quickly unravel the case thoroughly. Sarmuji also asked cadres to remain vigilant and not be provoked by the situation.
“To the cadres, remain vigilant but do not get provoked by the situation. Let us give trust to the police apparatus to thoroughly investigate the incident,” he said.
