Two suspects arrested for trafficking controlled pharmaceuticals in South Jakarta
Jakarta — The police have arrested two suspected controlled pharmaceutical dealers, identified as SR (26) and KM (27), at two separate locations in South Jakarta to maintain security and public order in the region.
“The police arrested two perpetrators at two different locations in South Jakarta last night (14 March),” said South Jakarta Metro Police Chief Brigadier General Putu Yuni in a statement in Jakarta on Sunday.
Putu emphasised that there is no place for controlled pharmaceutical dealers in South Jakarta.
Hundreds of restricted drugs were seized from a shop that was disguised as selling cosmetics.
“We seized 180 tablets of extimer, 380 tablets of tramadol and 128 tablets of diazepam,” he said.
Tramadol is a painkiller whose use must be based on a doctor’s prescription, whilst diazepam is classified as a psychotropic substance that also falls under strict supervision.
Extimer is a controlled pharmaceutical that is frequently misused if consumed in a manner inconsistent with its intended purpose.
To date, the case continues to be developed to investigate the controlled pharmaceutical trafficking network further.
“The case is still being developed so we cannot yet reveal more detailed information to the public,” said South Jakarta Metro Police Narcotics Division Head Senior Commissioner Prasetyo Noegroho.
Drug trafficking perpetrators can be subject to Article 609 paragraph (2) of Law No. 1 of 2026 on Criminal Sentencing Sub 114 Paragraph (2) of Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics.
According to data, the South Jakarta City Narcotics Board (BNNK) has been handling 713 narcotics users undergoing outpatient rehabilitation in 2025 as an effort to provide maximum services to residents.
