Tulungagung, East Java - The Criminal Investigation Unit (Satreskrim) of the Tulungagung Police, East Java, has arrested two men suspected of involvement in aggravated theft at several shops in the Tulungagung area and other regions across provinces.

Head of the Tulungagung Police Criminal Investigation Unit, First Inspector Andi Wiranata Tamba, stated on Friday that the two suspects, with the initials IJ (38) and SB (37), were arrested after police conducted an investigation into a theft case at a building supply shop in Ngantru District reported in May 2026.

“This case began with a report of aggravated theft at a building supply shop in Ngantru District. From the investigation results, we managed to ascertain the identities and whereabouts of the perpetrators,” he said.

IJ was arrested in Pekalongan Regency, while SB was arrested in Batang Regency on Thursday (11/6). Both were subsequently taken to Tulungagung for further examination.

According to Andi, investigators are still probing the involvement of the two suspects in a number of other theft cases with similar patterns. Police suspect the perpetrators targeted shops that were in a quiet condition by damaging or prying open access points using certain tools before taking merchandise inside.

In addition to arresting the two suspects, investigators also collected a number of pieces of evidence believed to be related to the criminal act. The Tulungagung Police urge business owners and the public to increase vigilance and immediately report any suspicious activity in their surroundings to the police.
