Two SPPI Kopdes-Kampung Nelayan Participants Die During Military Training, Palace Responds
Deputy Minister of State Secretary (Wamensesneg) Juri Ardiantoro has spoken out regarding the deaths of two participants of the Sarjana Penggerak Pembangunan Indonesia (SPPI) programme during basic military training for the Koperasi Desa Merah Putih and Kampung Nelayan initiative. Juri stated that the government is preparing mitigation measures and evaluations in response to the incident.
“The mitigation will naturally differ between the Koperasi Merah Putih programme itself and the provision of resources to manage it,” Juri told reporters at the Presidential Palace complex in Jakarta on Wednesday (24/6/2026).
He stressed that the incident will be handled properly according to applicable procedures, but it will not halt the ongoing programme. “And of course, matters related to such events will be handled as best as possible and will certainly be separated from the continuation of this programme,” he said.
Juri further confirmed that the Koperasi Merah Putih programme will continue as planned by the government. “So the Koperasi Merah Putih programme will certainly continue. All success to it,” he remarked.
Previously, the Head of the Defence Information Bureau at the Ministry of Defence Secretariat General, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, revealed that the two deceased participants were named Anisa Muyassaroh and Yonanda Muhammad Taufiq.
Rico explained that participant Anisa, who was undergoing education at the Dodikjur Training Unit of Rindam VI/Mulawarman in Balikpapan, experienced health problems on 18 June 2026 and received medical treatment at the unit’s health facility before being referred to a hospital.
Meanwhile, participant Yonanda was known to be undergoing training at the Puslatpur Kodiklatad Training Unit in Baturaja. He was reported to have experienced a decline in health condition on 17 June 2026 and was immediately referred to a hospital.
Rico explained that both participants had undergone health examinations before attending the military training. The test results indicated that both participants met the requirements to undergo the basic military training.
