Two South Jakarta Primary Schools to Relocate During Vertical School Construction
The relocation is scheduled to begin in mid-August 2026 during the construction of the new building.
“According to the schedule, we can complete this by the end of August. Hopefully, the demolition process will also be finished by early September, and after that we can immediately hold the groundbreaking for the new building,” said Santoso, Head of the Education Sub-department for South Jakarta Region I, at SDN Kebayoran Lama Utara 03 on Tuesday.
Santoso said that outreach regarding the relocation had been conducted with parent representatives and school committees of SDN KLS 09 and SDN KLS 11. The outreach involved the Jakarta Education Agency, as well as sub-district and urban village officials.
During the construction period, students from SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 will attend teaching and learning activities at SDN Pondok Pinang 05, a distance of approximately three kilometres. Meanwhile, students from SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 11 will be moved to SDN Kebayoran Lama Utara 03, which is 1.1 kilometres away.
“So we have informed parents that, for the time being, teaching and learning activities for SDN 09 will be transferred to SDN Pondok Pinang 05. Then for SDN Kebayoran Lama 11, we are moving them here, to SDN Kebayoran Lama Utara 03,” he said.
Santoso added that his team has prepared a number of adjustments during the temporary relocation, including arrangements for classroom use, sports facilities, and lesson schedules to ensure that the teaching and learning activities of the host schools are not disrupted.
“But what is clear is that we have anticipated this. We have already drawn up schedules for room usage and even the use of sports facilities for the activities of the students at the host schools. We have coordinated this with all existing stakeholders,” he stated.
According to Santoso, the transfer of items from both schools will be carried out in stages. Items still in use will be moved to the destination schools, whilst those no longer needed will be stored in a warehouse belonging to the South Jakarta Centre for Competency Development of Educators, Education Personnel, and Learning Support (P4) in the Cipete area.
As such, the authorities are working to ensure that the transfer of goods and students to the two host schools can take place by mid-August 2026. Following this, the demolition of the school buildings is targeted for early September, after which construction of the new buildings will proceed.
Previously, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government announced plans to construct vertical school buildings to replace the structures of SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 09 and SDN Kebayoran Lama Selatan 11 in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta, which had collapsed.
