Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya has expressed appreciation for the courage of two Indonesian Army (TNI) soldiers who re-raised the Red and White flag after it had been lowered by a group of people in the courtyard of the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, Banda Aceh, on Saturday (15/8).

The two soldiers are Sergeant First Class (Sertu) Irfan Farhan, a member of Infantry Battalion 112/DJ of the Iskandar Muda Regional Military Command, and Private First Class (Pratu) Donni Pinto Harahap, a member of Artillery Battalion 17/RC of the Iskandar Muda Regional Military Command.

During a meeting with the two soldiers, Teddy conveyed his appreciation for their courage and initiative in safeguarding the honour of the national symbol.

“Their spirit serves as a reminder that love for the homeland is not only demonstrated through major duties, but also through the courage to be present, to help, and to look after one another,” Teddy said.

Teddy assessed that the actions of the two soldiers were a display of courage in defending national values, while also demonstrating steadfastness in upholding the honour of the Red and White flag as a symbol of the state.
