Two Ships Still in Arabian Gulf, Pertamina Prioritises Safety

JAKARTA – Acting Corporate Secretary of Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), Vega Pita, stated that two PIS vessels, namely Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro, are currently still in the Arabian Gulf. Vega conveyed that the two PIS ships have not yet been able to cross the Strait of Hormuz. “PIS continues to closely monitor the developments of the very dynamic situation in the Strait of Hormuz,” said Vega in a written statement in Jakarta on Sunday (19/4/2026). Vega said that PIS is currently taking several steps to address this. He mentioned that the company is also continuously coordinating intensively with various related parties. “We are continuously coordinating intensively with various related parties, including ministries and relevant authorities, while still preparing a safe passage plan,” said Vega. Vega emphasised that PIS continues to prioritise safety aspects in this matter. He stated that the company’s top priority is the safety of all crew members, the security of the ships, and their cargo. “We hope that conditions in that route will soon improve and become conducive so that the Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro ships can continue their voyage safely,” said Vega.
