Two Samosir Police Officers Arrested for Methamphetamine Trafficking

Two personnel from the Samosir Resort Police have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the distribution of methamphetamine. The officers, identified as Brigadier DW and Aipda ES, are currently being detained at the North Sumatra Regional Police (Polda).

Acting Head of Public Relations for the Samosir Police, Brigadier Gunawan Situmorang, confirmed the arrests. The case came to light when the Samosir Police Narcotics Unit conducted Operation Antik Toba 2026.

‘Officers initially arrested a man with the initial R in the Aek Rangat area, Pangururan District, on 2 June 2026. During questioning, R admitted to obtaining the methamphetamine from a police officer serving at the Samosir Resort Police,’ he told CNNIndonesia.com on Sunday (12/7).

Based on this information, officers immediately followed up and arrested Brigadier DW on the same day. Police seized approximately 5.5 grams of methamphetamine from Brigadier DW.

‘Evidence of 5 grams of methamphetamine was confiscated from Brigadier DW. The examination of Brigadier DW led to another officer, Aipda ES,’ said Gunawan.

During questioning, Brigadier DW admitted to obtaining the drugs from Aipda ES. Acting on this information, officers arrested Aipda ES while he was on an official trip to Medan.

‘When questioned, Aipda ES initially denied involvement in drug trafficking. However, when his mobile phone was examined, evidence of conversations related to drug orders was found,’ he explained.

Furthermore, urine test results showed that both Brigadier DW and Aipda ES tested positive for drug use. Suspect R, Brigadier DW, and Aipda ES have since been handed over to the North Sumatra Regional Police for further investigation.

‘The suspects R, Brigadier DW, and Aipda ES are currently detained at the North Sumatra Regional Police as the handling of the case has been transferred there,’ he stated.

Investigators are continuing to examine the roles of each suspect, including tracing how long the two police officers are believed to have been involved in methamphetamine distribution.

‘Officers are conducting further investigations regarding how long this activity has been going on and the possibility of other parties being involved,’ Gunawan said.
