Two Samarinda terminals upgrade facilities to improve comfort for mudik travellers
Two terminals in the city of Samarinda, East Kalimantan Province, are upgrading a number of public facilities to provide comfort for passengers, especially ahead of this year’s Lebaran mudik. ‘We are making these facility improvements to ensure the public feel comfortable while waiting for the departure schedule of the bus fleet, particularly as the mudik period approaches,’ said Yunita Sari, Supervisor of the Type A Samarinda Seberang Terminal Service Unit in Samarinda, on Thursday. The passenger waiting area has been enhanced with air-conditioning to ensure the ventilation remains cool. ‘To maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the terminal environment, we have also installed more hygienic toilet facilities on the upper floor,’ Yunita said. In addition, there are two main toilet blocks separated for men and women to ensure privacy and comfort for all users. For potential travellers facing long journeys who have run out of battery on their devices, the terminal operators have also installed charging stations for free use. Those waiting for the bus departure schedule can also alleviate boredom by enjoying free wireless internet access throughout the terminal area.
