Two Rooms in Cilacap Regional Secretariat Complex Sealed by Anti-Corruption Commission
The Anti-Corruption Commission (KPK) investigation team sealed two rooms in the Cilacap District Regional Secretariat complex following a sting operation conducted in the area. The two sealed rooms are the office of the Regional Secretary (Sekda) and the office of the Deputy Regional Secretary located within the Cilacap Regional Secretariat complex. The sealing was carried out by placing official seals on the doors of both rooms. Until Friday (13 March), the rooms remained inaccessible to staff as they were still under the custody of the KPK investigation team.
In addition to the sealing, the KPK team also secured several individuals during the sting operation in the Cilacap area. In the operation, Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman, along with several officials from the Cilacap District Government, were taken by KPK investigators to the Banyumas Police Resort Headquarters in Purwokerto for initial questioning.
Following the KPK’s sting operation, the atmosphere at the Cilacap District Regional Secretariat complex appeared deserted, and around 5:00 PM local time, the gate of the office complex was seen closed. Meanwhile, the KPK investigation team continued initial questioning of the Cilacap Regent and several officials at the Criminal Investigation Unit of Banyumas Police Resort until 8:00 PM.
The KPK revealed that the sting operation, which arrested Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman and 26 others, was related to alleged receipt of payments from various projects in Cilacap District. “It is suspected that the Regent received payments related to projects in Cilacap District, Central Java,” said KPK Spokesman Budi Prasetyo at KPK headquarters in Jakarta on Friday (13 March).
Budi stated that the KPK was currently questioning the Cilacap Regent and 26 other individuals before determining their legal status. The KPK has a period of 1 × 24 hours to determine the status of those arrested in the sting operation, including the Cilacap Regent who is a regional head in Central Java Province, in accordance with the Code of Criminal Procedure (KUHAP). Cash was seized by the KPK, although specific details could not yet be provided as the amount was still being calculated.
