Two RI workers die in Saudi Arabia
JAKARTA: A consortium of insurance firms PT Asuransi Jiwa, PT Asuransi Republik and PT Asuransi Bringin Sejahtera Artamakmur paid more than Rp 10 million (US$1,333) in compensation to the relatives of 24-year-old Nuryati and 23-year-old Halimah Lidin, who died recently in Saudi Arabia.
The two workers came from the East Java town of Malang.
Anggoro, the consortium coordinator, said here on Thursday that the relatives of Nuryati, who reportedly died in a traffic accident, received Rp 6.5 million while the relatives of Halimah who reportedly died of an illness received around Rp 4.5 million.
"These insurance claims are paid in line with the government regulations," he said, adding his consortium offered a total risks program for Indonesian workers employed overseas.
Sri Harto, chief spokesman for the Manpower Ministry, said the government in cooperation with the Saudi Arabian Police was still investigating the actual causes of the death of the two workers. (rms)
