The Bogor City Transportation Agency (Dishub) has recorded that there are still railway crossings without barriers. Head of the Control and Enforcement Section of Dishub Kota Bogor, Faizal Rachman, revealed that the point without a barrier is on MA Salmun Street, Bogor Tengah. Meanwhile, the unofficial barrier is at the crossing on Tugu Wates Street, Sukaresmi, Tanah Sareal. “In Tanah Sareal, Sukaresmi. That’s like a community self-funded barrier, so there’s no real barrier,” Faizal stated when contacted by Kompas.com on Tuesday (28/4/2026). Faizal explained that the responsibility for accidents at level crossings falls under the authority of the local government. “Mr Commissioner of PT KAI said that for level crossing barriers, it’s under the authority of certain local governments, according to the commissioner of PT KAI,” he said. The crossing on Tugu Wates Street is used by the community to connect to Cilebut Main Road. Meanwhile, the MA Salmun crossing is not equipped with a barrier. Instead, personnel from Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) guard the crossing. In addition, at the MA Salmun crossing, there are several concrete water barriers before entering the crossing area. Faizal explained that the MA Salmun crossing is a limited access to connect residents of the Ardio area to Dewi Sartika Street. “So since, if I’m not mistaken, five years ago, we have closed it to four-wheeled vehicles and so on, and limited to two-wheeled vehicles only for use by residents around Ardio and surroundings,” he clarified. Drivers must increase their vigilance when entering level crossing areas due to fears of being hit by trains. “Be careful when crossing level crossings without guards or those with barriers; even if there are guards, you still need to be careful, as there’s a risk of being hit by a train,” he said.
