Two questioned in LBH case

MEDAN, North Sumatra: City police are currently interrogating two youths in connection with the destruction of the Medan office of the Legal Aid Institute (LBH) this month, Antara reported.

Medan Police Chief Lt. Col. Primanto said on Saturday that the two men were believed to have taken part in pelting the institute with rocks on April 28. The building was also set on fire that same night. No-one has been arrested in connection with the later incident.

The LBH office was attacked while a group of activists were holding a meeting to establish the local chapter of the Independent Election Monitoring Committee.

Primanto said police are also questioning 20 workers in connection with the destruction of the office of a housing developer last week.

Three cars and 10 motorcycles were burned in the incident after 150 workers protested over pay. (rms)
