Two Protests in Jakarta Today, Beware of Potential Traffic Jams at These Points

JAKARTA - Two demonstrations are being held in the Central Jakarta area today, Monday (11/5/2026).

The Head of Public Relations for the Central Jakarta Metro Police Resort, First Inspector Erlyn Sumantri, stated that the first demonstration begins at 10:00 WIB on Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan, Gambir.

“At 10:00 WIB, there will be a protest by the Serikat Mahasiswa Peduli Bangsa,” said Erlyn in a written statement on Monday.

A total of 679 police personnel are on standby for securing the protest in Central Jakarta today.

Meanwhile, traffic engineering at the demonstration points will be carried out situationally, taking into account the number of participants on the ground.

She advised the public to avoid the areas around the protest to anticipate traffic congestion.

“Residents can look for other alternative routes during the protest,” said Erlyn.
