Two regions in Central Java, namely Banyumas and Jepara, have been proposed as priorities for the construction of subsidised flats in 2026.

This was conveyed by Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi along with several regents from across Central Java to the Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, at the Ministry of PKP office in Jakarta on Thursday (2/4/2026).

On that occasion, Luthfi encouraged the construction of flats in the regions, even though submissions have so far been limited.

“In our area, we are proposing flats, the first in the Banyumas region, and the second in the Jepara region,” Luthfi stated.

Plans for the construction of flats in these two areas will begin to be explored further in 2026, as part of efforts to meet housing needs in Central Java.

Local governments have expressed their readiness to support the programme, including in providing land and accelerating permits so that construction can proceed as planned.

Meanwhile, the ministry is preparing around 40,000 subsidised housing units for Central Java this year.

“If possible, 40,000 are being prepared this year,” said Ara.

She stated that Central Java has shown good achievements nationally, even though its population is among the largest in Indonesia.

“Central Java is also good. (Ranking) second nationally, even though the population is number three. So in that regard, the achievement is very good,” she emphasised.
