Two police service vehicles were vandalised by unidentified individuals in Central Jakarta. The police are investigating the incident.

Footage of the damaged vehicles circulated on social media. In the video, the police cars are seen with severe damage to the front, including shattered and broken windshields, dented bonnets, and broken headlight glass. The incident occurred on Monday night (22/6).

“The incident happened on Monday night at the HI Roundabout, just before the traffic light heading towards Jalan Diponegoro, ahead of the Jakarta Anniversary celebrations,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head, AKP Erlyn Sumantri, on Tuesday (23/6/2026).

She stated that the service vehicles were left by officers who were focused on securing the Jakarta Anniversary celebrations at the HI Roundabout.

“Officers were securing the celebration at the Bundaran HI. The crowd was massive, overflowing around the Bundaran HI area, and police personnel were focused on their duties anticipating the crowd at the roundabout,” she said.

Police are still investigating the parties responsible for damaging the police vehicles. She confirmed that no police officers were injured.

“The vandalism was carried out by an unidentified group of people and was only discovered after midnight when the crowd had left the Bundaran HI,” she stated.

“No officers were injured; the vehicles were left by personnel securing the celebrations around the Bundaran HI. Two vehicles were damaged: a Central Jakarta Police traffic unit car and a Menteng Police Sector patrol car,” she added.
