Two police assistants wanted for rape
Police have launched a manhunt for two Central Jakarta civilian police assistants after the alleged rape of a girl at the Central Jakarta Mayoralty Office on Jl. Tanah Abang I, Central Jakarta early Friday morning.
Central Jakarta Police unit chief First Insp. Lilik Haryati said Saturday that police were still hunting the suspects, known only by their initials, Al and Wr, after a 20-year-old woman from Bogor alleged she had been raped in two separate attacks.
Lilik said the woman was waiting for friends at Gambir Railway Station about 3 a.m. when she was arrested by four civilian police assistants on suspicion of being a prostitute. They took her to the Central Jakarta Mayoralty Office.
Al allegedly raped her before releasing her at the National Monument (Monas) in Central Jakarta.
However, at Monas, Al's friend, Wr, came and brought Nona back to the office, where she was raped for the second time.
Wr released Nona at Senen in Central Jakarta and gave her Rp 10,000 (US$1) to go home.
Nona reported the incident to police on Friday evening.--JP
