Two Pertamina Ships Still Detained, Unable to Cross the Strait of Hormuz
Acting Corporate Secretary of Pertamina International Shipping (PIS), Vega Pita, stated that two PIS vessels, Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro, are currently still in the Arabian Gulf. Vega conveyed that the two PIS ships have not yet been able to cross the Strait of Hormuz. “PIS continues to closely monitor the highly dynamic developments in the Strait of Hormuz,” Vega said in a written statement in Jakarta on Sunday (19/4/2026). Vega said that PIS is currently taking several steps to facilitate this. He mentioned that the company is also maintaining intensive coordination with various relevant parties. “We are continuing intensive coordination with various relevant parties, including ministries and authorised authorities, while still preparing safe passage plans,” Vega stated. Vega emphasised that PIS prioritises safety aspects in this matter. He said the company’s primary priority is the safety of all crew members, the security of the ships, and their cargo. “We hope the conditions in that route will soon improve and become conducive so that Pertamina Pride and Gamsunoro can promptly continue their voyage safely,” Vega added.
