Two Permanent 'Sekolah Rakyat' in Pasuruan Ready for July Open House

The construction of two permanent Sekolah Rakyat (SR) in Pasuruan, East Java, has entered its final phase, with operations targeted to commence on 14 July 2026. Site Engineer Manager for PT Nindya Karya, Deska, stated that the SR in Purworejo, Pasuruan City, had reached 80.921 per cent completion as of Wednesday, 17 June. He expressed strong optimism that the project would be finished on schedule, citing visible progress on facilities including classrooms, teachers’ rooms, dormitories, a canteen, a pump house, and a sports field. The multi-purpose hall and mosque are also nearing completion, while accessibility features such as ramp stairs and guiding blocks for persons with disabilities have already been installed. At the second site in Lajuk Village, Gondangwetan District, Pasuruan Regency, progress has reached 82.28 per cent. Site Engineer Manager Mahendra confirmed that 1,408 workers are deployed with 16-hour daily shifts to meet the July deadline. The 6-hectare complex already houses classrooms, dormitories, a library, a mosque, and other supporting facilities. Head of SRMP 28 Pasuruan City, Yuli Prihatini, said relocation schedules for teachers, staff, and students are being prepared. The new facility will host 50 existing junior high students and 270 new enrollees. Meanwhile, heads of SRT 48 and SRT 3 in Pasuruan Regency expressed gratitude for the smooth construction progress and readiness to move students ahead of the open house and school orientation programme (MPLS) in July. The open house will invite prospective students, parents, and the local community to view the completed facilities. Expert staff to the Minister of Social Affairs, Fajar WH, also welcomed the progress and stressed the importance of managing the critical transition from temporary to permanent school operations.
