Two PDI-P supporters die in accident

AMBON, Maluku: A Mitsubishi truck packed with the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) supporters overturned on Monday in Central Maluku regency, leaving two people killed and 18 others injured.

The two were Ivon Kapitan, 20 and Martini Titasan, 20.

The accident happened when the supporters were on their way to a party campaign in Nusantara Masohi field in Central Maluku regency. The truck was passing by a street in Rumahlait subdistrict, when it suddenly overturned.

First. Insp. Dharme, the chief of Central Maluku Police precinct, said that the police were looking into the case.

He said that a preliminary investigation revealed that the truck was either overloaded or speeding. The police are questioning Pattinasarany, the driver of the truck. -- JP
