Two of Four TNI Members Acted as Executors in Acid Attack on Andrie Yunus
JAKARTA - The Indonesian National Armed Forces Military Police Centre (Puspom TNI) has disclosed that two of the four members of the TNI Strategic Intelligence Agency (Bais) acted as the executors in the acid attack on Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS).
“Correct (two members as executors). From the CCTV footage, there are two people who carried it out,” stated Commander of Puspom TNI Major General Yusri Nuryanto during a press conference at TNI Headquarters in Jakarta on Wednesday (18/3/2026).
“So, regarding who gave the order, that’s what we’re still investigating. We’re gathering witnesses and existing evidence. Secondly, the motive is also being examined,” explained Yusri.
Accordingly, Puspom TNI has asked the public to be patient. They promised to work transparently and professionally.
“We will inform the stages, starting from the investigation process, case compilation, and then handover of the file to the Military Prosecutor, up to the trial process,” said Yusri.
Meanwhile, Puspom TNI has charged the four Bais TNI members with premeditated assault in the form of an acid attack on Andrie Yunus.
“For now, we are applying Article 467 of the Criminal Code under Law No. 1 of 2023,” stated Yusri.
Previously reported, Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, became a victim of an acid attack by unidentified individuals on Thursday night (12/3/2026) in the Senen area, Central Jakarta.
As a result of the attack, Andrie suffered burns to several parts of his body, including his eyes, face, chest, and hands.
KontraS Working Body Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya said the incident occurred after Andrie finished recording a podcast at the office of the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) in Menteng, Jakarta.
Due to the acid attack, Andrie Yunus had to undergo intensive treatment at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.
