Two New Chinese Brands Set to Enter Indonesia
GUANGZHOU, KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian automotive market is certain to become even more vibrant with the arrival of new players from the Land of the Bamboo Curtain. Indomobil Group, one of the giants in automotive distribution in Indonesia, has confirmed that it will soon bring in two Chinese car brands, namely Leapmotor and Hongqi. Director of Indomobil Group, Andrew Nasuri, revealed that both brands are already in the launch plan for the second half of this year. “As is already known, this year there will be two more Chinese brands joining. Leapmotor and Hongqi,” said Andrew, who was met in Guangzhou, China, on Tuesday (21/4/2026). Andrew added that the technical preparation process is currently underway intensively to ensure that both brands comply with regulations and conditions in Indonesia. For those unfamiliar, Leapmotor is a technology company focused on intelligent electric vehicles (EV). Meanwhile, Hongqi holds a different position in the market. Hongqi is China’s oldest luxury car brand, often used as an official vehicle for state officials. Hongqi is now transforming into a global premium brand that offers elegant designs with top-class luxury touches, both for conventional engine variants and electric ones.
