Two negligent firms to face trial

JAKARTA (JP): The Ministry of Manpower will file a lawsuit
against garment companies PT Meditra Inti Ragam and PT Cenin
Indonesia for failing to abide by the regulation on minimum wages
and on Idul Fitri allowances.

Amrinal B., director of the Works Standard Control of the
Ministry, told Antara that his office is still processing an
official report on the violations to be submitted to the court.

He made the remarks in response to a protest staged over low
wages by 650 workers from the two East Jakarta companies, at the
House of Representatives last Wednesday.

Out of the 650 protesters, 150 were from PT Meditra Inti
Ragam, with the remaining 500 from PT Cenin Indonesia. (hhr)
