Two Narcotics Unit Officers in East Kalimantan Implicated in Drug Cases Throughout 2026
Throughout 2026, two officers from the Narcotics Unit in the East Kalimantan police force have been implicated in alleged involvement in drug trafficking.
The latest cases involve the Head of the Narcotics Unit at the Kutai Kartanegara Police, AKP Yohanes Bonar Adiguna, and the former Head of the Narcotics Unit at the Kutai Barat Police, AKP Deky Jonathan Sasiang.
The Head of the Narcotics Unit at the Kutai Kartanegara Police, AKP Yohanes Bonar Adiguna, was arrested by the East Kalimantan Police Narcotics Directorate on suspicion of involvement in a drug network.
The Head of Public Relations of the East Kalimantan Police, Yuliyanto, confirmed the arrest when contacted on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
“The person in question was arrested by the East Kalimantan Police Narcotics Directorate,” he said.
Yuliyanto said that the police are still investigating the case and have not yet been able to disclose the details of the arrest or the charges against AKP Yohanes.
“At this time, we cannot release the details because the case is still under investigation,” he said.
Meanwhile, the former Head of the Narcotics Unit at the Kutai Barat Police, AKP Deky Jonathan Sasiang, is also being questioned at the East Kalimantan Police. The National Police Narcotics Criminal Investigation Directorate found evidence of AKP Deky’s involvement in a drug network controlled by a drug lord named Ishak.
AKP Deky’s name surfaced after the National Police took over the handling of drug cases in Kutai Barat. The drug lord named Ishak was arrested by the Melak Police on February 11, 2026.
The Director of Narcotics Criminal Investigation at the National Police, Eko Hadi Santoso, said that investigators found new evidence that pointed to the involvement of the former Kutai Barat Police officer in a drug trafficking network.
AKP Deky is currently undergoing an ethics review at the Special Detention Center (Patsus) of the East Kalimantan Police’s Internal Affairs Division, while the criminal proceedings continue.
The East Kalimantan Police stated that they will handle the case professionally and will not tolerate any officers found to be involved in drug abuse or trafficking. (H-2)
