Two Motorcyclists Killed in Head-On Collision in Kupang

Fatal collision between two motorcyclists occurred on the Batakte-Tablolong road in Tesabela Village, West Kupang District, Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), resulting in the deaths of two men, AYT (29) and ADK (18).

Kupang Police Public Relations Head, Inspector Lalu Randy Hidayat, confirmed the incident occurred around 10:30 PM WITA on Sunday, 31 May 2026. ‘Correct. Two motorcyclists collided head-on and died at the scene,’ he told detikBali on Monday, 1 June 2026.

Randy explained that the accident began when a Honda Beat motorcycle (plate DH 2029 BU) driven by AYT was travelling at high speed without headlights from Batakte towards Tablolong. Upon reaching the scene, AYT veered off the road. At the same time, ADK was approaching from the opposite direction on a Honda Scopy at high speed, making the collision unavoidable. As a result, both AYT and ADK died at the scene.

‘The two vehicles sustained severe damage. The collision occurred due to the narrow distance and dark road conditions,’ Randy added.

The victims have since been handed over to their families for funeral arrangements.
