The Head of Public Relations at the Tabanan Police, Iptu Ni Luh Putu Wiwik Endrayani, explained that the incident occurred around 2:30 AM. Two witnesses observed one of the perpetrators taking a motorcycle parked in the victim’s garage.

“One person was responsible for taking the motorcycle, while the other waited on another motorcycle,” said Wiwik Endrayani.

Upon realising the theft, the witnesses immediately pursued the perpetrators, who attempted to flee on foot heading south from the location.

However, their escape attempt failed. Approximately 200 meters from the crime scene, the perpetrator carrying the stolen motorcycle fell into a ditch along with his accomplice.

“The perpetrators were then secured by residents along with the evidence, and the incident was reported to the Kerambitan Police,” she added.

Because both perpetrators were injured in the incident, they were taken to a hospital for medical treatment before undergoing further legal proceedings.

“This swift resolution is the result of the quick response of officers on the ground and the support of the community, who promptly provided information and assisted in the pursuit,” she stated.

For their actions, both perpetrators are now being processed in accordance with applicable legal provisions. Meanwhile, investigators are continuing to complete the investigation’s administrative requirements and investigate the possibility of the perpetrators’ involvement in other criminal acts.
