Two More Indonesian Troops Fall in Lebanon, Israel Says This
The Israeli military, or IDF, has announced that it has launched investigations into two separate incidents that killed three Indonesian troops serving with the United Nations peacekeeping force in southern Lebanon.
“These incidents are being thoroughly reviewed to clarify the circumstances and determine whether they were caused by Hezbollah activity or IDF activity,” the Israeli military wrote on Telegram, as reported by AFP news agency on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
“It should be noted that these incidents occurred in an active combat area, where they are operating against the Iranian-backed Hezbollah group,” the Israeli military’s post added.
“Therefore, it should not be assumed that incidents in which UNIFIL soldiers are injured were caused by the IDF,” it said, referring to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
Previously, the United Nations (UN) announced that two Indonesian peacekeepers were killed on Monday (30/3) and two others were injured.
“As a result of an explosion that struck a UNIFIL logistics convoy and destroyed their vehicle,” the UN stated.
The incident, according to the UN, occurred near Bani Hayyan in southern Lebanon.
This attack happened a day after another Indonesian peacekeeper was killed when a projectile struck the mission headquarters in Ett Taibe on Sunday (29/3), the UN said on its official website.
The Head of United Nations Peacekeeping Operations, Jean Pierre Lacroix, expressed “his deepest condolences to the Government of Indonesia and the families of the three UNIFIL peacekeepers who were killed in the last two days.”
The UN strongly condemned the deadly attacks in two consecutive days against the peacekeeping force serving in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
“Peacekeepers must not be targeted,” Lacroix told journalists at a press conference at UN Headquarters in New York, as reported by the BBC on Tuesday (31/3/2026).
