Two more airports for Aceh

BANDA ACEH, Aceh: The government will build two airports in
this westernmost province in order to boost tourism.

Secretary to the provincial government Malik Ridwan Badai said
on Saturday that the airports would be built in the Southeast
Aceh and Central Aceh regencies.

"The site survey will begin next month," Ridwan was quoted by
the Antara news agency as saying.

He said at the initial stage, the airports would be designed
to accommodate light aircraft like Fokker 28 and would be
upgraded if were deemed necessary in the future.

Southeast Aceh has been chosen because of the Mount Leuser
National Park, while the attraction of Central Aceh is its famous
Air Tawar lake. (pan)
