Two Months' Salaries Finally Paid, Bandung Zoo Employees Appreciate Governor
The West Java Provincial Government (Pemprov Jabar) paid the salaries of Bandung Zoo employees on Friday (3/4). These employees had not received wages for two months from the Yayasan Margasatwa Tamansari (YMT). West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, who witnessed the salary payment to Bandung Zoo employees firsthand, stated that Pemprov Jabar paid two months’ wages to the zoo’s staff. Previously, YMT had only paid employee wages up to January 2026. Interim Chairman of the Bandung Zoo Handling Team, Rohman Suryawan, appreciated the governor’s quick steps to address several issues, including not only paying wages but also providing assistance for enclosure repairs, animal feed procurement, and operations. “We hope that what Pemprov Jabar has done can strengthen the Bandung City Government’s efforts to resolve the Bandung Zoo problems,” he said. Meanwhile, several Bandung Zoo employees appreciated the provincial government’s actions, including the payment of two months’ salaries. Aep Saepudin (51), an animal caretaker for orangutans and small primates, said he was pleased and appreciated this step. “I greatly appreciate the governor’s actions. Quick movement, no empty talk. Direct and straightforward,” he emphasised. The same sentiment was expressed by nutrition department employee Sapariah (54), who did not expect employees to receive two months’ salaries in cash. “The governor’s promise to provide salaries for employees is not just a promise, but immediately fulfilled. KDM is great, sir, those who were sad can now be happy,” she praised. Sapariah said she felt proud and touched to meet the governor directly, whom she usually only saw on YouTube channels. “At first, I just asked to be photographed, but earlier I could meet face-to-face, get photographed, joke around. Very happy. May he stay healthy and continue to succeed in leading West Java,” she added. All employees hope that Bandung Zoo can reopen normally, without any disputes, and remain safe. No matter who manages it, employees can be reappointed and prosper.
