Bandung - After approximately two months since its launch at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2026 in early February, the MG S5 EV has received more than 1,000 orders. “Currently, the vehicle order letters (SPK) for the MG S5 EV have reached more than 1,000,” said Head of Marketing for MG Motor Indonesia, Harry Kurniawan, during a media test drive event in Bandung on Wednesday. Harry stated that this market trend aligns with the company’s expectations. MG’s latest compact electric SUV is touted as a new flagship for Morris Garage, with potential to boost sales. Previously, MG announced the MG S5 EV Ignite at Rp357.9 million and the MG S5 EV Magnify at Rp374.9 million. However, for the first 1,500 buyers, MG is offering the S5 EV Ignite at Rp333.9 million and the MG S5 EV Magnify at Rp355.9 million. Furthermore, Harry revealed that MG has begun local production of the MG S5 EV at the assembly facility owned by its parent company, SAIC Motor International, which also oversees SGMW Motor Indonesia (Wuling Motors) in Cikarang, West Java. The company has also started delivering units to customers. The MG S5 EV is powered by a 167.6 hp drive motor with a peak torque of 250 Nm for both the Ignite and Magnify variants. Equipped with a 49 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, this sporty-styled car is claimed to travel up to 410 km on a single charge (based on NEDC standards). In terms of dimensions, the MG S5 EV measures 4,545 mm in length, 1,875 mm in width, 1,620 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,705 mm.
