Two missing after boat capsizes
KUALA LUMPUR: Two Indonesians were feared dead after their boat carrying timber sank in the Malacca Strait, Malaysian police said Sunday.
Two other Indonesians in the boat were rescued by a Malaysian fishing boat about two hours after the sinking Friday morning, marine police officer Zulkafli Sariatt said.
The four men were heading to Port Klang, about 30 kilometers (20 miles) from Kuala Lumpur, from Penipahan, Indonesia, when their boat capsized while trying to overtake a merchant vessel, Zulkafli was quoted as saying by the Bernama national news agency.
An official of Malaysia's Maritime Rescue Coordination Center said the accident occurred in international waters about four hours by boat from Port Klang.
Patrol vessels from both Malaysia and Indonesia were searching for the two missing men, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. -- AP
