Two Men Steal 46 Railway Tracks in Lampung, Losses Nearly Rp700 Million

Two men in Lampung have been arrested following the theft of 46 iron railway tracks owned by PT KAI Tanjungkarang in Way Kanan Regency. This was confirmed by the Head of Public Relations for Lampung Police, Commissioner Yuni Iswandari. “The two men who stole 46 railway tracks were secured by Way Kanan Police, namely Alif (30), a resident of Blambangan Umpu Subdistrict, Way Kanan, and Pariyoni (55), a resident of Way Tuba Subdistrict, Way Kanan,” she said on Monday, 13 April 2026. She stated that the authorities seized evidence consisting of the railway track bars ready for transport and one Colt Diesel truck during the arrest. “There are 46 iron railway track bars, each two metres long, along with the truck used by the perpetrators to transport the iron,” she explained. Yuni said the case is still under investigation to uncover any other possible perpetrators. Meanwhile, due to this theft, PT KAI has suffered losses estimated at Rp670 million. “While the suspects are still being examined, the team is delving deeper. The losses are estimated at Rp670,700,000,” she added. Meanwhile, the Public Relations Manager of PT KAI Divre IV Tanjungkarang, Azhar Zaki Assjari, expressed high appreciation to the police for capturing the railway track thieves. “We ask the public, if they witness any actions that harm the state like this, to immediately report them to the authorities. We periodically, according to the designated time, will transport used rails to the collection site or area,” Azhar stated.
