Two Men Posing as Journalists Demand Money from Denpasar Police Traffic Chief

Two men with the initials FVK and FFK attempted to demand money from the Denpasar Police Traffic Unit chief, Kompol Mohammad Bhayangkara Putra Sejati. The attempt was allegedly linked to the removal of content the pair had uploaded concerning the Denpasar Police Traffic Unit. “The reason was essentially to take down news that he was going to make viral,” Bhayangkara stated when met at the Denpasar Police headquarters on Tuesday (14/7/2026). He explained that the two individuals initially reported alleged illegal levies in the driving licence issuance service at the Denpasar Police. Because he had been contacted by the two men, Bhayangkara invited them to provide clarification on the matter. During the meeting that took place on Friday (11/7/2026), Bhayangkara intended to follow up on the findings according to procedure. However, FVK and FFK insisted on steering the conversation towards a negotiation process to demand a sum of money. Consequently, Bhayangkara admitted he was again sent several links to the news article from different numbers. “Because I wanted to proceed according to procedure, the individuals in question massively sent the news links from several numbers,” he added. Nevertheless, the discussion with the two men did not reach the point of offering a specific nominal amount. Bhayangkara also continued to carry out the procedural process to follow up on the illegal levy report. In a video showing the alleged illegal levy, a Denpasar Police officer was allegedly asking for a sum of money during the driving licence application process. Bhayangkara confirmed that the officer, with the initials DL, had been transferred from the service post. DL is also undergoing further examination by the Denpasar Police Professional and Internal Security Division. Meanwhile, one of the two men involved also became entangled in a legal issue on the same day. The man with the initials FVK was reported to the Kuta Police on Saturday evening (12/7/2026) for alleged assault and threats and has now been named a suspect by the Bali Regional Police.
