Two Men from Lampung Arrested for Distributing Ecstasy in Central Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Narcotics Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Ditresnarkoba Polda Metro Jaya) has foiled the distribution of 738 ecstasy pills and arrested two men in Central Jakarta.
"The two suspects apprehended are identified by the initials R (32) and D (29). The arrests were carried out at the ATM Centre area of Mediterania Palace Residence Apartments in Central Jakarta on Monday (16/2)," said Head of Unit 3, Sub-directorate 3 of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Narcotics Directorate, AKP Guntur Muarif, in a statement in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The case was uncovered after police received a tip-off from the public regarding suspected narcotics transactions at the location.
From the initial investigation, it was established that the illicit substances were brought by R from Lampung. "He collected the ecstasy in the Lampung area before travelling to Jakarta," he said.
Subsequently, suspect R was picked up by suspect D in the Kebon Jeruk area of West Jakarta. The pair then proceeded to Mediterania Palace Residence Apartments in Central Jakarta.
Both suspects are residents of Lampung Province. The drugs were reportedly intended for distribution across the Jakarta area.
"Both suspects along with the evidence have been taken to the Narcotics Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police for further investigation," he said.
