Two men die from beating, stabbing
TANGERANG (JP): A suspected robber and a man involved in a row over a woman were killed in separate incidents here on Wednesday.
Tangerang Police chief Lt. Col. Pudji Hartanto said Mardiyan, 23, was killed by a mob after he stabbed an ojek (motorcycle taxi) driver named Sudiyo and seized his vehicle.
Sudiyo picked up Mardiyan from the Cengkareng area early on Wednesday morning. When they arrived in the Karang Anyar area at Batu Ceper subdistrict, however, Mardiyan suddenly drew a knife and stabbed Sudiyo.
"Sudiyo tried to save his motorcycle by shouting for help. Local residents, who were preparing for their dawn meals, came out of their homes to see what was happening."
After learning about the attempted robbery, they attacked Mardiyan. He died from his injuries at Tangerang General Hospital.
In the second incident, which occurred at Ciater village in Bumi Serpong Damai district, 20-year-old Ali bin Romli was stabbed to death by Masandi, 38, following a heated dispute over the latter man's wife.
