Two men convicted of drug trafficking

PAREPARE, South Sulawesi: The Parepare District Court sentenced Ilyas, 30, and Budiono, 29, to 42 months in jail and 30 months in jail respectively after they were found guilty of trafficking 3,387 grams of marijuana last April.

Rosmiaty, who presided over the court, said the pair had violated Law No. 22/1997 on banned substances.

He said Budiono was arrested during a drug transaction with a buyer, identified as Hermawan.

The court also sentenced Hermawan to 30 months in prison for buying the drug from the two defendants.

"According to the law, traffickers and buyers must be punished," said Rosmiaty. -- Antara
