Two Men Clash in Tangerang Over EV Charging Station Dispute
Video footage showing two men fighting has gone viral on social media. The altercation reportedly occurred due to a dispute over the use of an EV battery charger at a public charging station (SPKLU) in Cikupa, Tangerang.
In the circulating video, the two men are seen initially engaging in a heated verbal argument. One man is wearing a white t-shirt, while the other is wearing a black t-shirt.
Shortly after, the man in the white t-shirt appeared to become emotional and challenged the man in the black t-shirt to a fight. Several security guards attempted to intervene and break up the brawl.
The case has since been brought to the police, with one of the parties involved filing an official report.
Confirming the incident, the Head of Public Relations for the Tangerang City Police, Ipda Tri Leksono, stated that they have received a report from one of the men involved, identified as MRA (36), who was wearing the black shirt.
“It is true that on 6 September 2026, at approximately 21:11 WIB, we received a community complaint regarding a criminal act of coercion involving violence or threats of violence,” Tri told reporters on Thursday (10/9/2026).
According to Tri, the incident occurred while a man was attempting to charge his electric vehicle at the charging station. He then approached MRA, claiming that he had been waiting in the queue first.
The man subsequently demanded that the complainant unplug the charging cable currently in use. This demand triggered a verbal dispute that escalated into physical tension.
“At that time, a verbal altercation occurred where the reported party used coarse language and threatened the complainant to unplug the charger from his vehicle,” he explained.
According to the report, the man also approached MRA’s wife and attempted to slap her.
Tri emphasised that the police are currently investigating the report. Authorities have conducted a crime scene investigation, secured CCTV footage, and taken statements from several witnesses.
“We will also summon the alleged perpetrator for questioning to clarify the events that took place,” said Tri.
