Two men arrested in fake money case
MEDAN, North Sumatra: Local police said on Tuesday that they had arrested two youths for possessing almost Rp 20 million in counterfeit money.
The two suspects, residents of Bireun regency in the rebellious Aceh province, were caught red-handed on Monday when trying to exchange a fake Rp 50,000 bill in the Titi Papan area of Medan.
During their investigation, the police confiscated as evidence almost Rp 20 million in counterfeit money from the detainees.
The police said the suspects, who worked at Medan's Belawan seaport, claimed to have obtained the fake money from an unidentified person.
Earlier last week, police said another suspect in a different counterfeit money case had also been arrested. --Antara
