A team from Nusa Penida Police Sector arrested two young men identified as V (20) and S (26) from Cirebon, West Java. They were arrested after circulating counterfeit money, targeting several warungs in Nusa Penida, Klungkung. From the suspects, officers seized 345 pieces of counterfeit Rp20,000 notes. V and S are currently in custody at Nusa Penida Police Station for further investigation.

Nusa Penida Police Chief, Kompol I Ketut Kesuma Jaya, said the case was uncovered following a report from residents who received counterfeit money from a person after shopping at their shop on Wednesday night, 4 March 2026. The incident caused unease among the community.

“After receiving the report, we immediately deployed personnel to carry out investigations. By targeting locations believed to be routes used by the suspects to circulate counterfeit money,” Kesuma Jaya said on Friday, 6 March 2026.

Police began a series of investigations on Thursday, 5 March 2026, afternoon, based on information from residents who also reported receiving counterfeit money. Eventually, the two suspects were arrested.

As a result of follow-up, the counterfeit money was bought online by one of the suspects. The counterfeit notes were then circulated through transactions at several small warungs in the Nusa Penida area.

“We will continue to deepen the case to uncover the possible existence of other counterfeit money distribution networks,” Kesuma Jaya said.

He also urged the public to be more vigilant when receiving money from anyone during transactions. If you find suspicious money, report immediately to the police for follow-up.
