Two Men arrested for four robberies
JAKARTA (JP): Two men have been arrested for their alleged involvement in at least four recent armed robberies in Central Jakarta, with police seizing a pistol, a rifle with 24 bullets and sharp weapons.
Police also nabbed two other accomplishes who purchased the stolen goods from the robbers, City Police Spokesman Lt. Col. Iman Haryatna said yesterday.
"Police are still hunting another gang member, identified as Bardi," the officer said.
The two alleged robbers, identified as Syuman bin Jumali, 34, and Frans Syaiful Abdillah, 22, were arrested on Friday at their respective hideouts in East and South Jakarta.
The police also found six boxes of medicine believed to have been stolen from a local pharmacy here early this month.
The two suspects admitted to having robbed a bank customer of Rp 5 million in cash recently.
According to the suspects, their stolen goods were always purchased by fencers Sugianto, 46, and Risman Tambunan, 36, both residents of West Jakarta. Both were arrested over the weekend.(bsr)
