Distributions of LPG to Kota Kupang and its environs were disrupted by bad weather in recent weeks. However, two LPG containers from Surabaya have now arrived in Kupang and are awaiting unloading at Tenau Port.

Ahad Rahedi, Area Manager Communication, Relations & CSR at Jatimbalinus PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, explained that the delay was due to vessel arrivals as well as berthing queues and loading processes at Surabaya Port, a supply point.

‘Since late February, distribution has been hampered by vessel arrivals and berthing and loading queues at Surabaya Port as the supply point,’ he said on Sunday (8/3).

According to Ahad, efforts to accelerate distribution have been made. On Saturday (7/3), two LPG containers from Surabaya arrived in Kupang and are currently waiting for unloading at Pelabuhan Tenau.

The two containers carry 1,381 LPG cylinders, comprising 868 x 12-kg cylinders, 60 x 50-kg cylinders, and 453 x 5.5-kg cylinders. After unloading, the LPG will be immediately distributed to a number of outlets in Kupang and surrounding areas.

In addition, an extra supply of 1,125 cylinders spread across two other containers is also scheduled to arrive in Kupang on Monday (9/3) to boost stock.

There are around 20 non-subsidised LPG outlets serving the community in Kota Kupang and surrounding areas. Pertamina ensures the quality and quantity of LPG distributed remains in accordance with regulations and meets community needs. (H-2)
