Two Koreans held for smuggling fuel

BALIKPAPAN, East Kalimantan: The East Kalimantan Provincial Police arrested two South Korean businessmen, identified as Lee and Chaw, for trying to smuggle 1.2 tons of diesel fuel to their home country.

Insp. Gen. S.Y. Wenas, chief of the provincial police, said here on Sunday that the police had also impounded a tanker used in the foiled smuggling operation.

"The two Korean businessmen are still being processed by the police, as both committed a crime and have immigration problems," he said.

Sr. Comr. Heri Heryanto, chief of detectives at the provincial police, said the tanker had been impounded in waters off Buih Luar, several miles from the city, while it was loading the diesel fuel.

"The two Korean businessmen and their tanker are being held, pending further investigation, because they do not have the necessary documents," he said. --Antara
