The Panel of Judges at the Mataram District Court has handed down a sentence of 18 years imprisonment to two killers of Spanish citizen Maria Matilda Munoz Cazorla. Both defendants have been found guilty of premeditated murder.

The two defendants are Suhaeli and Heri Ridwan respectively. “The court finds that the defendants Suhaeli and Heri Ridwan have been proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt of the criminal act of premeditated murder,” said the judge chaired by Kelik Trimargo on Wednesday (25 February 2026).

Defendants Suhaeli and Heri Ridwan were found guilty of violating Article 459 in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code. Accordingly, the judge sentenced both defendants to 18 years imprisonment each.

“The court hereby sentences the defendants to imprisonment of 18 years each,” the verdict stated.

The length of imprisonment imposed has been reduced by the time already served by the defendants. “The court orders that the defendants remain in custody,” it added.

According to detikBali observations, both defendants appeared listless and hung their heads upon hearing the judge’s verdict. When asked for comments, they refused to speak.

The judge’s verdict matched the prosecutor’s demands. Previously, both had been charged with 18 years imprisonment.

The case involved the murder of a Spanish citizen that occurred in early July 2025 at a room in the Bumi Aditya Hotel located in Senggigi Village, Batulayar District, West Lombok. Initially, they intended to steal the victim’s belongings.

Suhaeli and Heri Ridwan entered the room through the door. They were previously employees of the local hotel.

The two murdered the victim by smothering her with a white towel that had been brought from outside the room.

After the victim became defenceless, the body was hidden in the generator room for four days. It was then moved to the rear of hotel room number 136. The body was covered with a blanket.

There, behind room number 136, the body was concealed for nearly a month. After that, the body was moved again to an empty room on the second floor of the hotel. There, the body was hidden for only one day.

The two then moved the victim’s body to a hill behind the hotel. On the hill, the body was moved twice. Shortly afterwards, the body was relocated to the seaside in the Senggigi area, which became the location where it was discovered.

They moved the body from the hill to the beach using a motorcycle. The body was placed inside a sack and positioned at the front of the motorcycle.
