Two killed in Ambon brawl

AMBON, Maluku: Two people were killed and two others were
seriously wounded during a clash between villagers from Pelauw
and Kailolo in the eastern Indonesian subdistrict town of Haruku
here on Wednesday.

The clash occurred after a dozen youths from the Kailolo
village approached the Pelauw village at about 12:00 to find a
solution to a misunderstanding that occurred between villagers
from there at a party on Sept.14, witnesses said.

They were stopped by a group of youths from the village and a
fight started in the street. During the incident, two youths were
killed and two others were wounded, witnesses said.

Maluku provincial government spokesman Isac Saimima said the
government was taking necessary steps to contain the conflict to
avoid any further problems. -- Antara
