Two Kendari Sub-District Heads Nearly Lynched After Alcohol Party in Office

The Kendari City Government in Southeast Sulawesi has dismissed Poasia Sub-District Head ZM (53) and Talia Sub-District Head RAK (41) from their positions after they were discovered holding a party with alcohol and two women at the Poasia Sub-District office, nearly becoming the target of a mob attack. “In response to this incident, we have deactivated both of them to resolve their issues,” said Kendari BKPSDM Head Alfian in a statement on Sunday (14/6). Alfian acknowledged that his office had received reports from the public regarding the incident, which occurred on Friday (12/6), prompting coordination with regional leaders. “The city government confirms there was indeed information from the public. We have confirmed it with the Abeli District Head,” he said. Alfian added that the government will soon appoint acting officials. The Kendari City Government assured that services at the two sub-district offices will continue to operate as usual. “For the time being, governmental tasks will be carried out by acting officials to execute administrative duties in the area until definitive officials are appointed,” he explained. Previously, police officers secured the two sub-district officials in Kendari after they were nearly attacked by residents when they were caught partying with alcohol at the Poasia Sub-District Head’s office alongside women suspected of being commercial sex workers. “Yes, that’s correct, officers secured both sub-district heads along with two women,” said Kendari Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Welliwanto Malau on Sunday (14/6). The incident occurred on Friday (12/6) evening, when Poasia Sub-District Head ZM and Talia Sub-District Head RAK allegedly held an alcohol party at the Poasia Sub-District office while ordering two women through an application. However, they became embroiled in a quarrel because the previously agreed price was not met. The argument was overheard and drew a number of local residents to the scene. The residents became enraged after seeing the government office being used as a location for prostitution. “These two women were ordered through a green application; we are still investigating this,” Welliwanto stated last weekend.
