Two Kaldera employees indicted

JAKARTA: Prosecutors asked the East Jakarta District Court on Thursday to sentence two employees of PT Kaldera to nine months imprisonment for attacking fellow employees who were on strike inside the company's compound.

The defendants, Sugiyono, alias Abi, and Usman K, are accused of violating Article 358 of the Criminal Code, which carries a maximum penalty of four years imprisonment.

Prosecutor Damly Purba said the two were believed to have led the attack on protesting employees on March 29 in the industrial area Pulo Gadung, East Jakarta, during which two people were killed and three others injured.

Presiding judge Pardiman adjourned the trial until next week.

In another courtroom, PT Kaldera's director Amrin Gobel also attended a hearing for charges relating to the same incident. --JP
