Two Israeli Soldiers Killed in Explosion in Southern Lebanon

Two Israeli occupation soldiers were reported killed and seven others injured after an explosion destroyed a building in the town of Majdal Zoun, southern Lebanon, on Wednesday (5/8/2026) local time. Israeli media reports stated the incident occurred during an ongoing military operation in the area. The soldiers who became victims were members of the 55th Brigade of the Israeli Armed Forces. They were inside a building rigged with explosives when the detonator was activated. Israeli media also reported deep concern over the condition of a third soldier who was in critical condition and required emergency surgery. A military helicopter carrying the victims reportedly landed at Rambam Hospital in Haifa, in the occupied territories, where three ambulance units were on standby to receive them. Several Israeli soldiers were injured in Majdal Zoun, southern Lebanon, due to a landmine explosion. Israeli media reports confirmed that the dead and injured victims were evacuated by helicopter to a local hospital. The deadly explosion occurred amidst continued military action launched by Israeli occupation forces across southern Lebanon. Al Mayadeen media correspondents reported that Israeli airstrikes targeted the area between al-Mansouri and Majdal Zoun. At the same time, Israeli forces carried out massive building demolitions in Kfartebnit, al-Mansouri, Haddatha, and Zawtar al-Sharqiyah. Israeli forces were also reported to have deployed bulldozers on the outskirts of Kfar Shouba while spraying the surrounding area with machine-gun fire. Meanwhile, in the Nabatieh District, occupation forces fired illumination flares over the hills of Kfar Roumman.
