BEIRUT – Israeli forces have suffered new casualties in southern Lebanon following a Hezbollah drone attack that killed two soldiers and wounded several others within 24 hours. This highlights the group’s increasingly effective aerial tactics. The Palestine Chronicles reported that Israeli occupation forces acknowledged on Monday the death of a soldier from the Maglan Brigade and injuries to three others in clashes in southern Lebanon. According to details released by Israeli media, the soldier died in a Hezbollah attack involving explosive-laden drones. One soldier was reported in critical condition, while the other two sustained minor injuries. Israeli military authorities have not released further details on the location or circumstances of the attack. The attack occurred less than a day after another Hezbollah drone operation killed an Israeli soldier from the Givati Brigade’s reconnaissance unit and injured four others in the Zawtar al-Sharqiya area of southern Lebanon. Both the Maglan and Givati Brigades are elite units of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). Israeli Army Radio reported that the explosive-laden drones struck Israeli forces operating in the area, resulting in one death and four injuries. The string of attacks underscores Hezbollah’s escalating use of drones against Israeli forces. Since the resumption of hostilities in March, at least 26 Israeli soldiers have been killed, while the IDF has killed approximately 3,300 Lebanese civilians. Israeli military assessments cited by local media acknowledge that Hezbollah’s drone fleet now poses a serious operational challenge to the Israeli military. According to the assessment, Israel’s expanded ground operations in southern Lebanon have failed to prevent Hezbollah drones from reaching military positions and civilian settlements in northern Israel. Israeli officials believe Hezbollah has adapted its tactics by intensively using drones to target troop concentrations, military vehicles, and defence infrastructure. This strategy is seen as overcoming limitations previously faced with conventional rocket use.
