Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia — The insurance fraud case has left a puzzle of fugitives still actively sought by Interpol. Among the suspects in investment and insurance cases who remain at large are Michael Steven, owner of the Kresna Group, and Evelina Pietruschka, owner of Wanaartha Life.

Secretary of the NCB Interpol, Untung Widyatmoko, said the agency has mapped Michael Steven, and his name was only added to the Red Notice on 19 September 2025. He explained that not all people on the red notice list are displayed on its official website.

‘Not all red notices are displayed on the website; some are restricted to law enforcement and immigration personnel, where access is controlled,’ Untung said after a press conference at Building 600, Tangerang, Banten, on Friday (26 September 2025).

He declined to provide further details about the whereabouts of Michael and Evelina.

Untung then revealed that Evelina’s son, Rezanantha Pietruschka, was briefly detained in California, United States. But he was released on bail.

‘A while ago, his son Reza had already been caught in California. But because he was on bail, in economic crime cases no one is poor; everyone can hire a lawyer. And that’s where they always bail, always challenge us, so that Interpol red notices are withdrawn on grounds that this is civil rather than criminal, and so on,’ he explained.

Therefore, Interpol Indonesia opened communication with colleagues in the U.S., including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to apprehend the Pietruschka family.

So, who are the people behind these two fugitives? Here are their profiles.

Profile: Evelina F. Pietruschka

Evelina F. Pietruschka is one of the fugitives in the Wanaartha case. She served as President Director of WanaArtha Life from 1999, and since March 2011 has been appointed as President Commissioner of WanaArtha Life.

Evelina has a long track record in the insurance industry, evidenced by her repeatedly being appointed to senior positions in several industry associations.

According to information on the company’s official website, from 2001 to 2002 Evelina was appointed Vice Chairman of the Indonesia Insurance Council (DAI); from 2002 to 2005 her position rose to Chairman.

In 2005, Evelina was appointed as Chairman of the Indonesia Life Insurance Association (AAJI) until 2011. While serving as AAJI’s Chairman, Evelina also served as Chairman of the Federation of Indonesian Insurance Associations (FAPI), the umbrella organisation of the national insurance associations, for 2007-2008.

Her career extended to the regional level, and she also served as Secretary General of the ASEAN Insurance Council. Evelina earned a Master’s degree from Pepperdine University, California, United States.

In addition to her long career, Evelina has earned several accolades, including being named a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year (EoY) in 2009 by Ernst & Young. She also received the ‘Personality of The Year Award 2013’ from Asia Insurance Review Magazine.
